Doris Rajan (Producer/Co-writer/Actress)

Doris is an actor, producer, writer, and emerging filmmaker. As a teenager and young adult, she worked on many shows with the award winning director Joel Greenberg and after appearing in the Canadian premiere of the hit Broadway play Runaways  she retired her acting career at the age of 21, to raise her four children.Doris returned to acting in the late 90’s and has since enjoyed her many productions of her one-woman play Doris Does Damage, later made for television live at Second City. In documentary she has worked on This Beggar’s Description and The R Word. Her short comedy film Healing Rani screened at the New York International Independent Film Festival in July 2007. In 2007 Doris was selected as one of ReelWorld Film Festival’s Emerging 20 Filmmakers’ for her sitcom Maharani on the Beach. Doris also has a Masters of Social Work degree, with a specialization in the area of  Social Policy, Research and Social Development. She has worked as a human rights consultant for over 15 years and has an extensive list of academic, public, and community-based publications to her credits, along with having taught at George  Brown  College, Centennial  College, and Ryerson  University.
