This fall Tetrault Arts Productions presented the showcase production of the new Canadian play - Gandhi High. All donations go towards covering the costs of this production. It is very difficult to stage a theatrical production of this size with limited resources. We know however that we need to tell more stories that reflect the diversity of our country. Your support encourages the continuation of multicultural shows like Gandhi High, to add to our Canadian creative landscape.
About the Play Written by Pierre Tétrault, Jeremy Wright, Neil Ross, and Doris Rajan
Directed by Pierre Tétrault Produced by Doris Rajan
Gandhi High is a challenging new play about a South Asian teenager named Jehan Sachi, whose family has re-located from Vancouver to a tough neighbourhood in Toronto. Jehan is tormented by unknown demons as he tries to find his place and identity in this new city. He gets involved with a diverse group of equally troubled street savvy teens who break into houses and carry guns. After his father's death he finds himself drawn to the teachings of Gandhi, which give him the courage to come to terms with his abusive past and the strength to challenge his peers and the community to rise above and fight the violence that is overtaking them. Gandhi's principles help these teens realize that they are entitled to protest against the poverty, racism and abuse that they have been subjected to - but that this fight is most effective through non violence, love, and forgiveness.
